HOMECOMING BLOCK PARTY AND TAILGATING
Tailgating during the Homecoming Block Party has become a tradition at Mason during the past 10 years and one we would like to continue in the future.
Mason encourages its fans to come to campus early and enjoy the Block Party. Mason also encourages its fans to tailgate in a responsible manner, respectful of the campus and respectful of other Patriot fans and attendees at the Block Party.
Please help us keep your campus clean by bagging your trash and using recycling containers. Also, please be sure to dispose of coals from charcoal grills in the appropriate receptacles.
For the safety and enjoyment of all fans, please keep the following guidelines in mind when tailgating and attending the Block Party:
GENERAL TAILGATING GUIDELINES
Location and Parking
The Homecoming Block Party pre-game celebration, including tailgating, will take place in a designated area of Lot A, on the east side of the Patriot Center. For the safety of all who attend the Block Party, cars will only be permitted through the entrance for one hour and vehicles must remain parked until the event is over. The Block Party lot will open after the basketball game. Rental trucks, trailers, and motor homes will not be permitted in the tailgating area.
The tailgating area will close, along with the Block Party 30 minutes prior to the start of the game, and fans are responsible for cleaning up their area before leaving. Please refer to the schedule of events for exact times.
Alcohol Policy
Individuals who are 21 and older will be permitted to bring their own beer and/or wine into the tailgating area. Only single serving containers in cans or plastic are permitted for personal consumption. Glass bottles or containers will not be allowed. Cases, kegs, and other large quantity containers are also not permitted.
Underage drinking laws will be strictly enforced during the Block Party and drinking games and rapid consumption devices are not permitted in the Block Party.
It is important to note that open alcohol containers outside the official Tailgating Area will be subject to open container laws and are prohibited.
Food and Grills
Portable grills are permitted in the tailgating area but gas grills are preferred. If you do use charcoal grills receptacles will be available for disposing of hot coals. Traditional tailgating food will also be available in the tented area of the Block Party for those who do not wish to bring a grill.
